Broken concrete and asphalt
When a slab is demolished, air gaps form between the broken pieces. Broken debris occupies approximately twice as much space as the original solid material — but its approximate total weight remains similar.
Using a 2.0 loose-volume expansion factor, one loose cubic yard of broken concrete may average approximately 2,025 pounds. The total material mass does not drop by half when the slab is demolished — it simply occupies more space at a lower density.

Why Concrete and Asphalt Loads Are Different
Dumpster capacity is usually described in cubic yards, but dense materials are generally restricted by weight before physical space becomes the limiting factor. RedArk's 15-yard and 20-yard trailers should not be filled completely with concrete, asphalt, brick, dirt, stone, tile, plaster, mortar, shingles, or other dense materials unless a specific loading plan has been approved.
